GRACE CHURCH BETHLEHEM

Who We Are

We are all ages, from different neighborhoods, with different stories all shaped by grace. Together, we invite all people to know the grace of Jesus Christ.

About Us

We are a community of people invested in grace.

We are all ages, living in different neighborhoods, with different stories — people who have been shaped by grace. Together, we invite all people to know the grace that Jesus offers. That commitment shapes how we come together on Sunday morning, and how we scatter throughout the Lehigh Valley during the week.

If you are new to the faith, have questions, or you are new to the Lehigh Valley, we invite you to come, ask, and see. In worship, in groups, and in serving, our prayer is that you will take steps to know Jesus — the grace-giver and life-changer.

150Years of History

Our Story

A deep history.

150 years ago, a group of people gathered at the YMCA to prayerfully consider planting a new Christian community — the first group of Presbyterians in the Lehigh Valley. That group worshipped in several locations as it grew and God blessed.

2023MOVE INTO OUR NEW Campus

Our Story

A fresh vision.

Back in 2018, God was moving in a new way. A group of over 1,200 launched out to begin a new Presbyterian church, and we prayerfully chose the name “GRACE Church Bethlehem.” After claiming our new name, we began praying and dreaming about our future ministry and mission.

In April 2023, we moved into our new campus, located in one of the fastest-growing areas of the Lehigh Valley.

Our Name

GRACE

Our church exists to invite all people to know the grace of Jesus.

Grace is central to our relationship with God.

Our relationship with God comes through God's grace to us, shown through Jesus Christ.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9

Grace also links us to our history as Reformed and Presbyterian. During the Reformation, Sola Gratia (“Grace Alone”) was named one of the five central truths of the faith.

Grace is central to living out our relationship with God.

Jesus was known for his grace as he lived out his ministry.

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory — full of grace and truth.” — John 1:14

Christians imitate Jesus when we show grace to all people, in the way we greet one another and the way we live our lives.

“Let your gentleness be evident to all.” — Philippians 4:5

Our Vision

Inviting all people to know the grace of Jesus.

What We Believe

Our Core Commitments

Jesus Focused

We believe it is through Jesus Christ — and only Jesus Christ, his perfect obedience and sacrifice of himself — that we are fully reconciled with God in this life and the next. He is who he says he is: the way, the truth, and the life.

A personal relationship with Jesus changes us and reshapes our life's purpose. Everything we do at GRACE centers on lifting up his name and inviting people to know him personally.

Biblically Based

We believe the Bible is the unique and authoritative Word of God and teaches all that is necessary for faith and life. The prominence of God's Word shapes our priorities, and its unrivaled authority directs our actions toward Christ's very best for our lives.

Presbyterian

“Presbyterian” comes from the Greek presbuteros, meaning “elder.” It defines our system of church government, structured around elders elected by the congregation — the same system upon which our country's democratic ideals were founded.

To be Presbyterian also means we are Reformed in theology: the sovereignty of God, salvation through faith in Christ alone, the authority of the Bible, and every believer's call to be a minister of Christ in all places.

On-Mission

God has a mission and is at work in every arena of the world, and every believer is called to a part in it. We show the grace of Jesus that has been shown to us, striving to live so that our work and lives point people to our Father in heaven.

We want GRACE to be internally strong yet externally focused — the heart and hands of Jesus — helping people find their part in God's mission using their God-given gifts.
