Hawaii Mission Trip

The devastating wildfires in Maui last year garnered worldwide attention and impacted island life for years to come. The historic wildfire took the lives of 115 people and destroyed more than 2,000 homes. The disaster area included over 800 business establishments with about 7000 employees. While homes and businesses slowly get rebuilt, countless families are still hurting and need help in recovery efforts.

GRACE church responded to this disaster promptly with a special offering to address emergency needs. Over $7,500 was sent to aid in the immediate aftermath of this disaster. Now, we have the opportunity to roll up our sleeves and help with physical projects that are the greatest need at the time we are there. Examples include debris removal, soil retention projects, reforestation and foundation work on homes to be rebuilt. Additionally, we will hear stories from fire survivors and participate in implementing relational ministry events like family movie nights and food distribution.

After four days of fire recovery efforts in Maui, we will shift to the big island of Hawaii for the final two days. We will come alongside GRACE Church missionaries Dennis & Jo Fahringer at our mission partner organization, Youth with a Mission (YWAM). We will serve, support and worship together, out of the YWAM headquarters in Kona.
