This Sunday we launch a new Sunday series. Over the next few weeks, we will look at perhaps the most loved and most quoted Psalm in the Bible — Psalm 23. David, a seasoned shepherd turned King, begins …” The Lord is my Shepherd.”
If you were writing a poem about the Lord’s work in your life, how might you begin?
The Lord is my ___________.
Over the next weeks, we will explore this personal poem and testimony about God’s protection and provision and presence in our life.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (Psalm 23 ESV)
As a part of the series, I am inviting all of our kids to memorize this Psalm. If they say the Psalm to one of our pastors, they will receive the Pastor’s Prize and be invited to a Popsicle Party on July 22nd at 11:30 am in BECA’s courtyard.
But, I want to challenge our church to fulfill what Isaiah prophesied… “A little child will lead them.” If you don’t have Psalm 23 committed to memory, I hope you will join the children. We will hand out bookmarks on Sunday to help you carry the psalm with you throughout the week.
I can’t wait for Sunday to launch our new series but also to baptize six of our newest Grace Church family. What a gift to get to pass the faith to the next generation.
Also, on Sunday, our New Member’s Class will happen at 10 am -12:30 pm. At the class, you will learn more about Grace Church’s vision and mission. It is not to late to sign up, so click here for more information and to register.
Be in prayer for our Middle School Mission Trip team that returns today and also for our Children’s ministry team that launches Vacation Bible School on Monday. Kids will take over our Locust Street Campus for the week. It’s going to be a fantastic week.
I hope you have also marked your calendar for Legacy Weekend, on August 25-26th. We will have a special guest preacher and a weekend of events in honor of God’s faithfulness and the faithfulness of our most seasoned (and wise) members.
What a gift to be an “all -generations church!” And what a gift to begin my third year as your pastor.
Give ‘em GRACE!
