NEWS FROM OUR SENIOR PASTOR

From my youngest days, singing has been as natural as breathing. I sang around the piano with my mom and siblings. I sang in church – both in choirs and the congregation. I sang to the radio in the car. I sang in ensembles at college and seminary. I sang at concerts – mostly in the audience. Over years of singing, I sang hymns and other songs. I sang the greats and the not-so-greats. But, one of the greatest gifts of years of singing is having those songs memorized.
Our staff and my family can tell you that I often walk around the office and my house singing. And different days pull different playlists straight from the heart. I am so grateful when the song that comes to mind is straight from scripture.
This week, as Mark continues our GOD IS… series with God is…Faithful, I’ll be singing the verses he will dig into from Lamentations 3. I learned the song at Summer Camp. Maybe you know this one…
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning, new every morning. Great is Thy Faithfulness, O Lord. Great is Thy Faithfulness.
What great words to memorize and sing. Because you know God is Faithful. You’ve seen it in your life. We’ve seen it in our church. But there are moments. Moments when we don’t remember. Moments when we don’t believe. Moments at the graveside. Moments in the HR office. Moments in our homes… It’s at those most difficult moments that we turn to God -desperate to see God’s faithfulness. In those moments, we need His Faithfulness the most.
No matter where you are when you read this… sing (or if you don’t know it… speak) these powerful words and amazing truth:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning, new every morning. Great is Thy Faithfulness, O Lord. Great is Thy Faithfulness.
You need them.
