Was there ever a time you got something you deserved?
But it wasn’t good news. You blew it… And you paid for it.
Was there ever a time you did not get what you deserved? You did your best. You earned it… And you got nothing.
Last question… Have you ever gotten what you don’t deserve?
If you are a follow of Jesus, you sure have. God doles out what you don’t deserve, it’s called GRACE. It’s great news… And you didn’t earn it.
Paul says it this way to the Christians in Ephesus
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
For the next three weeks, we will look at the amazing doctrine of GRACE in our new sermon series- GETTING WHAT YOU DON’T DESERVE.
As I prayed about our series for the next year, I kept coming back to GRACE.
It’s our name and it’s the foundational doctrine of the Bible – in both the Old and New Testament. And I believe it’s the best way for us to launch into what is perhaps the most strategic year in our church’s long history.
I hope you will be there Sunday to jump into GRACE. Appropriately, we will share communion together in both services.
On Sunday, you will also receive a Fall catalog of all the opportunities to grow in your faith.
Grateful for Grace,
Marnie Crumpler
