NEWS FROM OUR SENIOR PASTOR

I simply can’t get on to this coming Sunday without looking back to last weekend. Legacy Weekend was such a joyful weekend of thanking God for his faithfulness! The Reverend Connie Jordan-Haas blessed us with her timely message thanking you for your legacy in her life and cheering you on as you continue to leave your mark on the next generation and the Lehigh Valley. If you missed her message, click here.

Perhaps the highlight of the weekend for me was the FourScore and More luncheon. It was so wonderful celebrating our “grand adults.” We had 121 people at the luncheon and collectively, those at the luncheon represented 3,663 years of connection to our church- growing, leading, and serving as they follow Jesus Christ. As I looked around that room…. And as I see every Sunday…. We stand on strong shoulders. My prayer is that their legacy (and our legacy) lead to many more finding and following Jesus Christ.

This weekend, Manuela Kauer will wrap up our “At the Shore” series with “Jesus and Our Storms”. Do we trust him in our darkest moments? Do we know he is faithful? This weekend will also be the last weekend of the Summer Choir. I know you join me in thanking those who sang over the summer. I continue to be grateful for all of our musicians who guide us into the presence of God as they lead each week. Also, we will celebrate communion this month next weekend, September 9 as we kick off our new sermon series, “Getting What You Don’t Deserve.”

The fall season is on us and the next few weeks, our bulletin and this GRACE THIS WEEK Friday e-newsletter will be packed with ways for you to take your next faith steps. One that I want all of you to jump into is — 40 days. In October and November, I am praying that over 500 of us will be in a 40 days small group. This series and groups are critical for our strategic dreaming and planning for the future of our church. 40 days study guides and books ($15) are available for purchase at BECA beginning this week. Before you light up the Labor Day grills, I can’t wait to worship with you on Sunday.

Your pastor and friend,

Marnie Crumpler
