Four years ago, I was just your guest preacher. I had no idea that the people I saw out in the congregation that weekend in all those services would be people that I would know and love. I had no idea that God would give me and Mark the privilege of being your pastors and the joy of doing life and ministry with you. I am so grateful for our journey together and can’t wait to see all that God has in store for us.
I can’t believe how quickly days turn into months and months turn into years. And how did we get to the end of November! We are on the edge of what pastors affectionately call “Thanksmas” season. You are making your plans for food and tables, perhaps for traveling and parties.
This weekend, a different table will be set for us– the table of the Lord’s Supper. We will take Thanksgiving Communion together in our services. I’ll be preaching, “Your Thanksgiving Table”. You have a Thanksgiving table you will set at home; and this week, you have a Thanksgiving table that is set at church. Did you know that one of the names for Communion is Eucharist? That’s a Greek word that means thanksgiving. Sunday, we will see what Paul had to say about this table that leads us to giving thanks. I’m praying that God will use our worship Sunday to get us all ready for all the tables we will sit at over the upcoming holiday season.
We will also meet on Thanksgiving Eve at 7 pm for our annual Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service. We will hear witnesses of God’s faithfulness as we worship the one who deserves our thanks and praise.
Speaking of the holiday season, if you have children or grandchildren, now is the time to sign them up to be a part of our Christmas Eve Family Services. Along with the choir, our children’s ministry is inviting children to be a part of bringing the Christmas story to life complete with sheep and a donkey. We need some adults too – so if you have always wanted to be a wiseman, now’s your chance. You can click here to sign up. I can’t wait for Christmas.
Happy almost Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for you.
Your pastor and friend,

Dr. Marnie Crumpler, Senior Pastor
