GRACE This Week

Labor Day Weekend is the unofficial end of the summer. Pools are closing. White shoes and sandals go back in the closet. And the first day school pics flood Facebook and Instagram.

This Sunday at GRACE, we will have the last sermon of our Summer Stories series. Taylor Shade will preach the story of “The Unmerciful Servant.” In all the services, we will take communion together.

Taylor Shade came to GRACE in October of 2019, serving as our Next Generation Director, acting as the team leader for our kids and student ministries. Taylor has completed his seminary and an extensive ordination process, including ordination exams, retreats and oversite from our presbytery and denomination. I am very happy to report that he has been approved for ordination. Our Session, upon my recommendation, has affirmed his call to now be Assistant Pastor for the Next Generation.

Taylor will be ordained on Sunday, September 18 at 3 pm at our Locust Street Campus. I know you will want to be a part of this milestone for Taylor and for GRACE.

Summer ends… and school begins. Sunday afternoon, our Next Generation team will lead us to spread out all over our city to pray on location at over 20 of our local schools. You can CLICK HERE to join us on location, or to pray from home. What a privilege to ask God to bless and protect our schools, administrators, teachers, and students and their families.

Finally, I want to share another important milestone for our church. The “closing” on the sale of our Locust Street Campus happened last week. It is such a joy that Vertical Church LV, who has worshipped at Locust Street for many years, is now able to make it their church home. We understand the excitement of moving from portable – to permanent. And we can’t wait for our own joyful moving into our Hecktown Road Campus in the spring. Special thanks to Jim Harbaugh and his Property Acquisition Team, and to our Elders and Trustees, as well as our Finance and Operation Staff for their leadership leading up to this moment.

As a part of the sale agreement, we will be continuing our ministries throughout the week at Locust Street until our new campus is complete. We will be working closely with Pastor Noel and Vertical Church LV in the transition to make sure ministries continue and thrive for both churches.

It is a privilege to be your pastor,

Dr. Marnie Crumpler
Senior Pastor
