GRACE this Week

It’s a different kind of Memorial Day Weekend.

The holiday was first observed as “Decoration Day” in the years following the Civil War. “Memorial Day” became an official federal holiday in 1971. This solemn day honors men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States military. We remember those who have given their life and their life’s work to protecting and preserving our freedom in this country and around the world. We marvel at the courage and the sacrifice that millions of men and women have showed. And we thank God for putting in them a desire to serve beyond themselves.

Even though we are not able to enjoy one of my favorite freedoms those heroes gave their lives for—our weekly worship services at BECA, we still have the freedom to worship on Sundays and every day. And we have the gift of technology to gather online.

We have so many reasons to be grateful. On a weekend where we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we know that Jesus made that sacrifice for us. And that gives us the ultimate freedom. It’s mind boggling. The God of the universe – perfect in every way, willingly gave his life so that we could have life. That moment in history changed the world forever. It is his sacrifice that gets us through the disruptions of life as his children.

Disrupted, our series about facing life’s interruptions, continues this weekend. Mark Crumpler will preach “Disrupted but Not Disturbed” at our 9 and 10:30 am services.

Memorial Day is also the unofficial beginning of Summer typically with lots of special events for our students and kids . Our Next Generation team is working hard to adjust our summer programs. We are committed to helping our children and students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in GRACE friendships. Look for updates on our website and in our weekly emails. If you have any questions reach out to our Next Generation Director, Taylor Shade at tshade@gracecb.org.

Beginning this week, when you go online to make your gifts, the site will look a little different and updated. You can now text to give as well as giving online, through the mail or via EFT. You can also set up recurring gifts. Go to www.gracecb.org/giving to see all the new options. Thank you for the ways you are keeping GRACE Church strong!

Also, don’t forget our new GRACE Wear Shop is open for you to purchase your own GRACE Golf-shirts, Caps, T-Shirts, and Sweatshirts. Click here to shop.

Can’t wait to see you on Sunday! Show up a few minutes early and let us know you are there.
