GRACE This Week

Last week, we launched a new series called ALIVE.

Even though Jesus could have showed up just once to show He had conquered death, he showed up many times to many people. Here’s why:

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3.

Jesus showed up countless times to give convincing proof that he was ALIVE. It was shocking. And it was absolutely necessary for God’s plan to change lives for good. On Sunday, we walked through Paul’s list in 1 Corinthians 15 of times Jesus showed up ALIVE. If you missed Sunday’s introduction to the series, you can see it HERE.

This week, we begin to take a deeper look at each encounter with the risen Jesus. Sunday, Mark will preach “Behind Closed Doors.” Even after the disciples had seen the empty tomb, they were afraid and were meeting behind locked doors. Mary Magdalene had seen Jesus (we’ll address this encounter on Mother’s Day), but no one else had. They were afraid, and Jesus showed up. He showed up ALIVE and changed everything.

Jesus is still showing up when we are afraid. Jesus is still showing up behind the “locked doors” of people’s lives. Read John 20:19-23 to get ready for Sunday.
