Our community needs us! This winter you can make a difference to your neighbors in need by helping out at the Bethlehem Emergency Shelter. Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering is a faith-based partnership that provides a network for care and hospitality for the homeless in our community. From mid-November through mid-April, Grace Church Bethlehem will help provide guests with a warm bed, a hot shower, dinner, and breakfast on the first Saturday of every month. Again this year, the shelter will have a single combined site at Christ UCC church, on the corner of Center and Market streets in Historic Bethlehem. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age, and will enter at the Walnut Street entrance of the church.
The shelter is projecting to house an average of 50 guests (usually about 20 women and 30 men) at this single site with a capacity of 75. This endeavor takes a lot of hands to run smoothly. Please prayerfully consider if Got is calling you to be his hands and feet right here in Bethlehem this winter. General volunteer training sessions will be held Saturday, October 12 from 9–11 am and on Wednesday, October 23 from 5:30–7:30 pm at Christ UCC Church.SIGN-UP
